About Hypodermic Syringe

Edinburgh physician Alexander Wood developed a syringe with a hollow needle in 1853 to inject morphine near painful nerves. Charles Pravaz in France made a similar device at about the same time. Glass syringes dominated for a century until disposable plastic syringes spread in the 1950s and 1960s, cutting infections from reused needles. Billions of vaccine doses depend on the design every year.
