About Seed Drill
Tull, a Berkshire farmer, built a horse drawn seed drill that sowed seeds in neat rows at a set depth and covered them over. Scattering seed by hand wasted much of it. His book The New Horse-Hoeing Husbandry of 1731 promoted his methods. Seed drills existed much earlier in China and Mesopotamia, but his design helped drive the British Agricultural Revolution. The rock band Jethro Tull took his name.
